Title: Uhuru learns photoshop
Post by: Uhuru on January 02, 2010, 04:31:14 PM
So I decided to learn how to actually learn photoshop, and randomly came up with the idea of turning the Grinch into the Joker to do it.

It began with this photo.

This was my first attempt, wasn't that good but wasn't terrible either.

I then restarted and created this.

Now I just need to figure out how to make his face look scarred where his lips are.  Any ideas on how to do that?

my best guess is to play with bevel and emboss
make a new layer and double click it, go to bevel and emboss, fuck with the settings, pick a brush and a color and start fucking around with that and the layer transparency.

here's a 30sec example of what you can make it look like

I have no idea how to make his lips looked scarred. Not very good at PS, Asmo's much better (see olsen twins), and somehow my shit always comes out looking very monotone and subdued (see example below):

No idea what to do about the lips or the scarring, and totally overshadowed the eyes. :P

...

here, have a chibi:

is it bad that I can identify(if not the exact name, then the boss it dropped off of) all of the pieces of gear on that warrior?

No, it just means you played when gear actually meant something.

Emi how did you color change his face?  I used the replace color option, but it comes out all choppy like mine did (which I like for this, since it's supposed to look like shotty face-paint)

Maybe it is the elitist in me but I'd rather have gear look terrible and mean something than have good looking gear that means nothing.

Overlay glow blend option.

Kvalkrin (the warrior chibi) is so easiy recognizable partly because I didn't know what gloves he used so I gave him the MC gloves most dps warriors used which makes them obvious. Turns out he didn't actually use them. The rest is his actual gear. Interesting trivia: Kvalkrin arena'd with that naxx axe and won games.
