So yesterday I went to install some games from DVDs and found my DVD drive wasn't plugged in, so I plugged it in, installed Civ 4, thought everything was great. Today when I put anything other than Civ 4 in the drive, it makes my machine sluggish and will not recognize any disks. Tried multiple different disks, all the same issue. Anyone have any ideas? No amount of uninstalling the drive, restarting, and reinstalling helps so far.

The fact that this is happening does not make much sense.
As always I will blame Microsoft for breaking something.
Did you try swapping the Sata port the drive is plugged into?
Maybe try another Cable, I remember my hardrive being slow when the cable was loose once.

Haven't swapped out the cord yet, but I did change it from Sata3 to Sata4 and still no response.

Ok, I got another CD game to work installing, but it took waaaay longer than I'd expect. So I tried a game thats on a DVD afterwards, and no dice. Just sits there like theres nothing in the drive and if I double click on the drive in my computer screen, it just loads and loads and loads all over my face. I know its not the game because I put it in my wifes dvd drive and bam, instantly had the install screen.
