Display problems in WoW

This shit only happens in WoW and I can't get it to go away. Anyone have any ideas?

I'd make a back up of your WTF and addons. Then try it and see what happens. if its good your wtf/addons are screwed. If its still messed up try changing the resolution of the game to match your monitors native resolution. And if that still doesnt work try a reinstall/repair.

This is assuming that you have tried a full uninstall of video card drivers because thats what it looks like to me. By full uninstall i mean uninstall, reboot use driver cleaner, reboot, reinstall, reboot and see what happens.

2- Reinstall chipset drivers for your motherboard
3- Reinstall latest version of DirectX
4- An option called "Enable Write Combing" under the "Troubleshoot" tab advanced display options. this option, when clicked, accelerates the display on your screen, but may cause corruption.
5-This could be a hardware or overheating problem.  Check the fans/temps in your case (specifically the video card) and is your card overclocked?
6-  You can try changing multisampling options in wow, too.

BTW, post your video card / OS?

I'd put my money on #5 though.

I'm with gas , it looks like your getting tearing becuase of overheating, thats exaclty what happened to me before I reseated the heatsing/fan on my video care.

I'd put my money on #5 though.

So I found out it is because of overheating, my card isn't overclocked at all but runs at 75-78 C in wow. I downloaded a tool that lets me run the cards fan faster and that brought the temp down a little but I still have a lot of problems with it. I read that an underpowered card can overheat like this (I'm not sure how that works out but w/e) how can I check to see if my ps isn't enough?


btw my card is a radeon X1950pro 512mb on XP64

420w Doesn't say much.  I need to know the individual rail amperages.  Also, if the voltages drop under load cause it's a cheap unit, that could cause problems too.

The Radeon X1950 Pro behaves differently. Like all modern graphics solutions from ATI Technologies, it loads the +3.3V line heavily. It also puts a higher load on the internal +12V line in 3D mode than on the external one.

If you have the time, you might try reseating the heatsinkfan on your GFX card and possibly reapplying thermal paste (clean off old stuff with alcohol).  Could drop temps further.

Its definitely a cheap power supply my case was 75 and it came with it.
I Just pulled it out and it says Output:  +3.3V  +5V  +12V  -12V   -5v  +5Vsb
                                                         28A    35A   15A   0.8A  0.5A   3A


Anyway I just got a new one that is  +5V +12V  +12V  +12V +3.3V  -12V   +5Vsb
                                                    15A    16A   16A    16A   22A    0.8A     3A
So I'll see how it goes I guess

Your old one had waaay high and low 5v and 12v rails, respectively.
