Good power supply? / r.i.p computer

My computer won't turn on. Right before that the fan went off in my power supply and it started to snap crackle and pop.  I know I didn't leave any rice crispies in there so I am sure I need a new one. It is the only part of computer that is like, super duper old. Can anyone suggest a decent one? I had an antec 500 watt one before...I am pretty sure. Thx for the help sirs.

I've burnt through so many PSUs in my time so eventually decided to say 'fuck it' and just blew some cash on a Corsair one. I bought the 620W one but if you want to not spend too much you could try the 550W one:

550 should cover almost anything you would need to run piston unless you're running two graphic cards in SLI mode or more. If you have the money the bigger one won't hurt you though. Also you should get this fixed quickly so I can promote you already.

It is ordered. I got a 500 gig hard drive for xmas. It came in 11 hours after I ordered it so I don't think it will take a long time tbh. New egg is the shit. 550 watt since I am a graduate from Gasmask's thrifty savings club.

Don't cheap out.  Under 100 bucks and you get 650w with 52 amps to the 12v.  You will not need to replace this thing for fucking years.

Also, it comes in a velvet bag like a bottle of Crown Royal.  Awesome.

Just saw that you posted that you ordered that 550.  If you can retract the order still, I'd recommend spending the 10 bucks and going with the 650.  41amps to 52amps is pretty big.  If you can't though, the 550 should be good.

I would imagine this would meet the vast majority of gaming needs.  Unless you are running SLI quadcore overclocks, I don't buy into the whole 800+ propaganda.  Moreover, the larger PSUs have efficiency curves that will bottom out under normal day to day loads.  Buy something to meet your needs, never try to future-proof your computer.
