Looking for sound advice!

So, the tv looks great and blu-rays are very pretty but the next step is for them to sound pretty. Since Microsoft have insisted on giving me two back to back 60hr weeks with another around the corner I might as well enjoy that overtime cash.

I left my old sound system back in the UK which I was very fond of (B&W 603s with a really nice Marantz amp / cd player) and am now looking to a sound system for the US since it looks like I'm going to be sticking around.

I'm looking for a 5.1 but space is an issue. Emily really doesn't want large floor standers and chunky bookshelves round the back so we've been considering the Bose cubes as an option. Anyone have a set or tried listening to them while purchasing their sound system. Also where are good places to get a deal on buying these sorts of things?

I personally have a Bose 2.1 PC speaker system that I bought about 5 years ago that with my old 46 inch projection and I feel that they are excellent, maybe a bit of distortion at max volume, but they are no Lifestyle 16 series.

Now I posted those big polks a while back, but decided that because of the frequency response variance between my center channel, surrounds, and two mains I ended up buying a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882269004&cm_re=energy_take-_-82-269-004-_-Product because I didn't want to spend much and using them with the polk psw10 sub and have been super impressed (I also only paid 149 w/free shipping from newegg).

Seeing that you have a pretty hefty amount of disposable income though I think you should go for the Bose lifestyle 16 speakers and either the Pioneer you linked or any of the higher end Onkyo receivers, perhaps the new Onkyo with network connectivity which is really nice if it's even out yet.

Also the Bose tend to have much easier and varying number of ways to mount.

Go listen to Bose if you haven't already.

And if you do not want to spend the 1300 on the Bose speakers along with the cost of a receiver, than I'd just peruse Amazon and Newegg for decent reviews on 5.1/7.1 speaker packages.

Best buy has a good amount of the super high end speakers and receivers on display in their Magnolia setup as well.

I would probably go down a step on the sub bringing them to $1625 but yeah it's starting to edge towards the top end of what I'm prepared to spend on the speakers.
