So I bought Knights of the Old Republic, the old one not the MMO. Anyways this hunk of shit will crash randomly when loading any of the movies in the game, so I had to shut those off by renaming them all. Now it freezes after a certain mission and will not load the next section. I installed the patch released by Lucasarts to see if that fixes it, and bam! now its asking for the play disc. Steam doesn't give refunds, hurray.

Blame Bioware. I had the exact same problems with both the first and second (real/non-steam) games.

You might try finding a no CD crack from a place like megaggames.com. Not sure if one exists but I'd be surprised if it didn't .

KOTOR was tons of fun until it crashed relentlessly and turned into a huge piece of shit.  There were a bunch of updates to it after it launched, make sure you get those.

Yeah, the patch is what made it start asking for a play disc. I deleted it off Steam and am reinstalling it now, hopefully it deleted the patched content so I don't have to worry about that anymore.

I don't remember my game crashing, but that was a while ago. I have the KOTOR 1&2 disks if you end up needing them.

Well I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it works again, but it still freezes after I fight Malak the first time. Loading bar goes all the way through for the next section and then ploop, total crash. Man this game is fucked.
